"I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble..."
With the rise of instrumental music making its way into the ears of more and more listeners, Gerry Trevino is among the elite of other guitarists bringing the genre to the forefront. Being from Las Vegas, Nevada, he knows that with the state of the music scene in his city something like instrumental progressive metal would be very difficult to grow an audience from—let alone as a solo act. However, that hasn’t stopped him yet and has managed to enter the hearts of many all on his own. With roaring guitars and catchy melodies reminiscent of that of video game soundtracks, his music encapsulates a vast palate of soundscapes that ranges from metal/djent, electronic and even orchestral.
At the young age of 13, Gerry managed to self-teach himself how to both play the guitar and enter the very primitive stages of audio production. During his high school years, he pursued to further enhance his skills on his beloved instrument by seeking the teachings of none other than renowned guitar instructor Dr. Matthew Nishimoto, which led him to participate in various guitar competitions around his city. Soon thereafter, Gerry had the itch to complete his education on learning to record and produce music and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Audio Production. Now with his two passions in tact, he was on a mission to take on the world.
This isn’t Gerry’s first foray into building a music career as he’s has had previous experiences with other musical endeavors, thus, has played at various venues in Las Vegas such as ‘Vinyl’ at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and has toured across the United States. On top of all of this, he’s also managed to grow a YouTube channel where he posts gear demos and covers that sits at over 4,000 subscribers and over 750,000 views across all of his videos. Gerry’s work has been featured on websites such as GearGods.net, GearNews.com and ScreamRockMosh.com. Some of his major influences include the likes of Periphery, Animals as Leaders, Sithu Aye and pretty much anything that “djents”. He also has a huge passion for video game music and pulls a lot of inspiration from the soundtracks of retro games like Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. Combine all of that with the fact that he writes, records and produces all of his own music and you have the very definition of a force to be reckoned with.
In November of 2019, Gerry released his debut single ‘Imhotep’ that somehow managed to perfectly deliver images of towering pyramids and treacherous adventure based on the Egyptian chancellor himself of the same name. After debuting on the scene and playing extensively throughout his hometown, he released his debut EP 'Great Unknown' on April 3, 2020 and will continue to release videos regularly on his YouTube channel. It’s safe to stay that this supercharged, guitar-playing train of a man shows no signs of slowing down.
